M.O.R.E. Beard Seat Shootout Pre-Race Report
Posted 5/9/06 by Uncle Bob
OK ladies and gentlemen, It's Race time again!
Next up for Team UBRT Racing is the 2nd Annual Beard Seat Shootout with MORE May 27 in Lucerne Valley of Camp Rock Road. For directions e-mail me and I will forward them to you or look on the MORE web site at www.moreracing.net
Our team along with the MORE family of racers and Beard Seats/RedArt encourage you to bring you families, campers, trailers, tents or just sleep in the back of your truck for this 2nd annual event. Last year we drew a crowd that was the largest in the high desert racing community in 15 years with 137 race vehicles taking the green flag. This should be another great event put on by MORE with over 85 race vehicles signed up so far and is expected to reach well over 100 entries as it has in each event for the last season and a half.
Immediately following this race will be the MORE annual Chili Cook-Off with 13 entries so far along with Hot Dogs and a Hot Dog eating contest for the little ones 12 and under. Towards the end of the festivities mention will be the awards for all the competition in the race, Chili Cook-Off and of course, the little ones.
With this being a 3 day weekend "Memorial Day Weekend", Team UBRT Racing, MORE in conjunction with Beard Seats/RedArt what this to be a safe weekend with making sure you keep yourself hydrated with plenty of fluids and enjoy the desert with keeping it clean and your drinking reasonable as there will be plenty of law enforcement present this weekend out there.
While on the subject of safety, PLEASE by all means keep and eye on all the little ones even if they're not you own. All roads in the Johnson Valley Recreational area are a 15 MPH speed limit and for goodness sake if you are riding please be aware of where you are and who is behind you. Ride together and stay together as safety comes in numbers. When making ALL turns, please look behind you as there may be a race car or truck coming up behind you. Speaking of race traffic, please do NOT ride on the race course and when crossing the course please make sure there is nobody coming. There will be Race cars testing on Thursday and Friday along with the race being held on Saturday starting at 8:30 in the morning.
Please note - All camping is to be 125 feet off the center line of the race course. To give you what it was like last year, there were campers and motor-homes were parked 2 and 3 deep for the first 3 1/2 miles of the race course. So come one, come all and have a blast! Get there early and enjoy the weekend in the desert.
