UBRT Racing's Post Race Report: MDR California 200 Night race in Lucerne on 08-13-05

First off I have to apologize for being late on the report. I have been on vacation up north and I really would like to thank our team on helping me in getting the trailer loaded and on my way as we had reservations for dinner in Placerville at 7:00 that night and we made it on time. Thanks guys.

Now for all the good stuff:

Well, once again we had a great turnout in our truck class with 30 signed up and 27 trucks taking the green flag. We happen to start in the 25th spot at 6:21:40 with 30 sec starting intervals. The weather again happen to be in the racers dreams with 90* weather at the start and cooled off to a nice racing condition for a night race. Dust again happen to be a factor but not like last year. This race we ran 3 - 50 mile laps for a total of 150 miles.

On the first lap we had the sun in our eyes on the back side of the course and with the heat still a factor on the long 10 mile up hill climb in the sand washes near MM20 we had minor overheating issue's (240*) that was deturminded to be due to the changing air flow from the overhead lights. Beginning of lap 2 we pitted for fuel and to have the crew check for water leaks and also to see if the fans were working. They also choose to remove the hood for more air flow around the motor and all was fine from that point on. We were informed on the radio that one of our main trucks that we were in competition with had rolled in front of us around MM9. Being we were almost there, we stopped to make sure everybody was OK. From this point on knowing they were OK, we decided to have some fun and as you might have guessed by now, yep another win for the UBRT Racing team. This makes 9 wins now in the last 10 races with the ! last 5 being straight wins.

I have to say one thing to a great shock company which is King Shocks. We got 2 new 3" 4 tube by-passes from King for the rear of the truck a week before this race. We left Thursday morning with the intent of spending all day Friday and Saturday morning before the race tuning these shocks. We made 1 adjustment on these shocks and never had to adjust after that. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

Thank you Brett, Mike and Ivan for picking the right valving the first time and for what you had done for our team. It's companies like yourself that keep winning race cars and trucks in the winner's circle.

The truck ran great all night and with 77 vehicles that started the race, we paced ourselves and ran the 5th fastest overall average speed of 50.8 mph. Not to bad for a night race.

Once again I would like to thank all our team members that make all these wins possible. They are: Chris White, Cameron Sinohui, Jeff Moore, Jeff and Brett Carley, Alan Vandal, Ryan, Nick Cerulle, Jason and his father Dave from Chassisfab. We also had a few guest: Dennis and Dan from DUKE Motorsports (Chett Houghman's TT truck) and Eric Earnest and co-driver Eric from the 524 5 open team. Again, we couldn't do it without you guy's! THANKS!
