The race took place at the Barstow race course in the grueling, rough, rock infested Mojave Desert off Outlet Center Dr on 01-24-2009. The Promoter was MORE Racing for this race which had a great turnout. There was a total of 9 in our Class with the race starting at 8:30am on Saturday morning with the weather under clear skies, light winds and in the mid 60's.

The team was a little short on pit support for this race so the decision was made to team up with Sean Dunn with the Dunn-Tech Class 1 car which Sean is now the shock tuner for the LEATT-BRACE Trail-Glow #70 Trophy Truck team of UBRT Racing. This proved once again to be a great combination. The race was a 200 mile race with our class running 6 -35 mile laps. Pit strategy was for one stop at the end of lap 3 for fuel only.

The prediction before the race was that Lloyd Snyder and Nick Cerulle in the #70 TT starting in the 4th position and Sean Dunn in the #123 Class 1 car starting in the 7th position to finish the first lap in a one two position at the end of the first 35 mile lap. The only difference was that Sean was in first place by 1 minute. Lap 2 was the same results except for a 1 minute 15 second lead over Lloyd.

On lap 3 Lloyd had caught Sean in traffic and was making his pass on Sean at RM (race mile) 12 when Sean was making his pass on slower traffic when the driver of the 1451 truck didn't see Sean got each others tires tangled up and when Lloyd and Nick looked to there right all they saw was 2 race cars 10 feet in the air. Sean rolled 5 times in the matter of a 100 yards. All vehicles were running between 60 and 70MPH at the time. Lloyd turned around to go back to block the race track with the #70 truck to make sure everyone got out of the vehicles OK. Sean got out, helped the others out and when all was good he waved Lloyd and Nick to continue on in the race. Being Sean was out of the car and we were pitted together, Nick radioed into main pit and relayed that all was OK. Photo is included

A pit stop was made at the end of lap 3 with 28.5 gals of F&L Race fuel added and a quick look over of the truck in a 45 sec pit stop and off they went. Lap 4 they made a 15 sec pit stop to plug Lloyd's ear buds back into his helmet. Lap 5 and 6 were flawless and they reached the checkered flag in a total of 4:11:37 which was 12 minutes faster than second place even with the 2:30 second stop for the crash at RM12 on lap 3.

We need to add that this wasn't just a win for Team UBRT Racing but this was the teams first Overall Win. Thanks everyone!

Next race up on our venue is the SNORE MINT 400 out of Las Vegas on March 26, 27 & 28. This race hasn't been run in 20 years and it's going to be a biggie. Tech and Contingency will be downtown under the Canopy at the Fremont Hotel all day Friday. You don't want to miss this race! More details as we get closer.
