UBRT Racing's Post Race Report: MORE Freedom 250 Night Race in Barstow 07-23-05
Well, once again here we are looking from the inside out. The weather happened to be in the racers dreams this last weekend with 100* weather and an overcast condition all day and cooled of to a nice racing condition for a night race. This time of year like last, it was 117*.
MORE had another great turnout with around 100 cars and trucks in the field on the 41 mile course B at Barstow. We had Lloyd Snyder again as driver and Jeff Moore as co-driver with trying to get them a championship overall win for the 2005 season. As you might have guessed by now, yep another win for the UBRT Racing team. This makes 8 wins in the last 9 races. This time they spanked them by putting our whole class down by a lap when they took the checkered flag. It's no wonder this happened as after reviewing the results and lap times of all classes in our post race meeting last night, we were running as fast as most of the class 1 and 10 cars the first 2 laps and cruised on the last 2 laps.
The only problem they had all night was a cut-down tire (most likely a piece of some shale rock) on the first lap which happened near pit B (mile marker 22) and got changed by an unknown pit crew. They also had stopped at one of our remote pits near mile marker 30 to get a fresh spare tire to which they didn't need the rest of the night.
We have been working on our Fluidyne cooling systems at which the air flow to all the coolers had changed do to running the truck this season without a windshield and rear window and we have solved our problems. We also built a new light bar for all the HID lights before this race and with the main pit team on our pit stop at the beginning of lap 3, we installed the light rack, dumped in 20 gals of race gas, checked all lug nuts and gave a quick look over of the truck in less the 1 minute. WOW, it's just amazing how fast we can get them in and out of the pits now.
At this time I would like to thank everyone on our crew that was able to make this race. They were: Chris White and Scott Mol (roaming between pit A to pit B), Cameron Sinohi and Ryan from team 524 (at pit D), Ed and Carol Crone, Joyce and Joyce, Tim Kueger (team 1486), Alan Vandal, Mexi Mike, Brett Carley and myself at main pit.
