UBRT's Post Race Report for the MORE Toy's for Tot's Holiday 200! 12-06-05

Boy, where do I start?

For a last minute change on where we were going to race we sure had a blast. The MORE race was a 2 race event with 1 track being a 33 mile course and the other was a 13.2 mile course with a 1 hour break in between races for maintenance of the race vehicles. The race was split with the faster cars running the larger course first while the slower cars where running the shorter course. This was very interesting and worked out fantastic for all the racers. The start/finish area was at the Slash X Cafe off highway 247 on the back side of the race course.

Joyce and I had left Thursday late morning and Lloyd came out in the late afternoon to the Barstow track where we showed up to the "Barstow Breeze".&nb! sp;The weather was iffy and rainy Friday morning. Lloyd and I left for a test run to mark the GPS at 8 Friday morning to get caught in the heavy rain at mile marker 14 on the 33 mile course. We ran the short course in the early afternoon. Tech was from 3 till 9 Friday night and the race started at 8 Saturday morning.

We had signed Lloyd up as driver of record to lock up the points championship and we decided to have Lloyd run the first race which was the longer of the 2 tracks. On lap 1 around mile marker 28 Jeff Moore (Lloyd's co-driver) radioed in that they thought they might have broke a axle. With them 5 miles out we set up for them to arrive and we pulled the wheels and started tearing into it to find that there thought was correct. We choose to replace both axles with new ones along with not taking any chances and changed the 3rd member and put a little lower gear ratio in and off they went with a 31 minute pit stop. By the ! end of that race they had put themselves back in lead.

Break time came and I got suited up to drive the second race with Lloyd as co-driver for the first few laps. At that time I had my lines and pitted for Nick Cerulle to get in as co-driver and off we went again. As we left, main pit had radioed us to let us know that we had 3 class 1 and 3 -1600 cars on our butt. With my line set on the track with the GPS we had fun as they never caught us and by the time we ran our last lap the Outlaw Class 1 car finally caught up to us a lap and a half later and we played with them for next 5-6 miles to let them know that a 1450 Truck is of the upcoming class to not recon with. Man that was fun!

Needless to say, we won our 11th race in the last 12 races plus we won the Championship AGAIN! That makes 2 Championships back to back. What a great feeling to accomplish what we have in such a short time of 2 years. Llo! yd and I both agree that this team would be what it is without the crew that we have. We both had it to all of you. For this race we had a short crew which was, Jeff Carley, Jeff Moore, Nick Cerulle, Papa Crone, Tim Krueger and Stu Thayer. Our remote pit and radio work was headed off with a fantastic job by Chris White and Cameron Sinohui. We also had a few guest this race which where my in-laws Marilyn and George Oakley along with a surprise visit from John Castro (ex-crew chief of Enduro Motorsports) from FLUIDYNE to make sure everything was OK. John has been following our team from the conception with quit a bit of input even during some of out testing. Thanks a bunch John. It means a lot to me!

Oh, I also need to mention that yes, Lloyd did get a another flat but thanks to Chris and Cameron they got it fixed in record time! LOL

Like always, if I left you out I am truly sorry.

I need to give some recognition to some of the photographers that take some of the best pictures in some of the worst condition possible. They are, Photoahead, Martee's Race Photo, HighRev Photo, SGG Photo, Trackside Photo, Mike's Race Photos and Carrera Photo. Not all of them are at all the races that UBRT Racing is at but I just needed to say thank you to all of you. Anyway, click on the links below to look at photo's from the race.

And by the way, MORE happens to be one of the finest places to race with some type of theme at each event. Like I had mentioned at the beginning, this race was the "Toys for Tots Holiday 200" and with that said and done, the MORE racers and fans along with some of the Pit Clubs like the Checker and FAIR we all brought over 1,100 gifts for the Toys for Tots to this event. Congratulation to Jim Clements and the whole MORE family of racers.

Thank you,
Bob Schreiner
